Stanislaw Strasburger

Stanisław (Stan) Strasburger (born August 3, 1975 in Warsaw ) is a writer , publicist and freelance cultural manager . He also works on multimedia projects between photography, music and literature and publishes under two artist names : Jan Subart and Jonasz Ryba .

Life and work

Stanisław Strasburger publishes fiction and reports, essays, feature sections and critical texts. His focus is on pluricultural identities, mobility, EUtopia and culture of remembrance around Poland , Germany , Europe and the Mediterranean area , with excursions into the Russian and Spanish language areas. In his work he asks questions about similarities and differences, overlaps, empathy, foreignness and homeland and the role of language and literature in a global world.

His publications appeared in a large number of print and online media in Poland and Germany as well as in translation in Lebanon , Egypt and other countries (e.g. Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , Fikrun wa Fann , Rzeczpospolita (newspaper) , Wieź, Odra , Tygiel Kultury, Deutsche Welle , As-Safir).

Excerpts from his debut novel, the story dealer, were presented to the public as a multilingual reading performance in Bremen , Cologne , Beirut and Casablanca, among others .

He is the initiator of various cultural projects between Germany, Poland and the Mediterranean region. From 2011 to 2016 he headed the residency program Art and Document. Cologne-Beirut , which was dedicated to topics related to the culture of remembrance and coming to terms with the past in urban societies, and he was the initiator of the cooperation agreement for cultural cooperation between these two cities. He also works in the fields of education, art and history.

Stanisław Strasburger studied philosophy, art history, psychology and oriental studies at the universities of Warsaw , Cologne and Bonn .

He lives and works alternately in Berlin (formerly Cologne) and Warsaw, at times also in Mediterranean cities such as Beirut or Granada.
