Stanislas Guerini (born May 14, 1982 in Paris , France ) is a French politician of the LREM party . He has been a member of the National Assembly since 2017 and chairman of his party since 2018.

life and work

Guerini is of Italian descent. His parents fled after Benito Mussolini came to power . Guerini attended the Lycée Henri IV in Paris and graduated from the HEC Paris business school . As an entrepreneur, he founded the company Watt & Home in 2007 , which installs solar modules . In 2013 he moved to the textile group Elis as director for customer experience .

As a student, Guerini joined the Parti socialiste (PS), within which he was close to the wing of Michel Rocard and Dominique Strauss-Kahn . Before the presidential election in France in 2007 he was one of the supporters of a presidential candidacy Strauss-Kahn, who was defeated in the party primary against Ségolène Royal . In the run-up to the 2012 presidential election , Guerini worked again for Strauss-Kahn, who however withdrew his candidacy.

At the end of 2015 Guerini was - alongside Benjamin Griveaux and Ismaël Emelien - one of the founders of the En Marche political movement initiated by Emmanuel Macron , from which the La République en Marche party (LREM) later emerged. Guerini played an important role in Emmanuel Macron's election campaign for the 2017 presidential election, and after the election he also led Macron's victory celebration at the Louvre pyramid .

In the parliamentary elections in France in 2017 , he was elected a member of the National Assembly for the party La République en Marche (LREM) for the third constituency of Paris . In the first round he received 45.08% of the vote; in the runoff election he won 65.5% against Valérie Nahmias, the UDI candidate . In October 2018 he succeeded Christophe Castaner as party leader of the LREM.
