Stanislav Levý (born May 2, 1958 in Prague ) is a former Czech football player and current coach .
Player career
In his youth Stanislav Levý played for SK Úžice and Meteor Prague . He completed his military service in 1977/78 with RH Volary and 1978/79 with RH Cheb , with whom he was promoted to the 1st Czechoslovak League.
From 1979 to 1988 Levý played for FC Bohemians Prague , with whom he won the Czech Cup in 1982 and Czechoslovak Champion in 1983. As a 25-time Czechoslovak national player, Levý moved to the 2nd German Bundesliga in 1988 at Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin, for which he played 125 second division games, and quickly became a crowd favorite.
After the club went bankrupt, he played for Tennis Borussia Berlin , where he was able to add another 20 second division appearances to his career in the 1993/94 season.
Coaching career
In the 98/99 season he took over this team as an interim coach from Hermann Gerland with great success and then later moved back into the second line in favor of Winfried Schäfer . Levý later followed his former coach at Blau-Weiß Berlin, Horst Ehrmantraut , as assistant coach at Hannover 96 and 1. FC Saarbrücken , where he became an interim coach after Ehrmantraut was released.
In 2004 he returned to the Czech Republic and took over Viktoria Žižkov in the second division. He was released after only half a year. Then Levý worked as a sports director at Chmel Blšany . In the summer of 2005 he became a coach at 1. FC Slovácko , despite a successful season he had to leave in May 2006. In October 2006 he replaced Michal Bílek , who moved to Sparta Prague , as a coach at Viktoria Plzen .
In November 2008 Levý took over the team from FC Tescoma Zlín . However, he was released in mid-December.
In October 2011 Levý was the new coach at the Albanian first division club KF Skënderbeu Korça . Despite the championship achieved in summer 2012, he left the club.
In early September 2012, he signed a one-year contract with the Polish first division club Śląsk Wrocław with the option for another year. On February 25, 2014, he was released after eight consecutive games without a win.
