Stanislaw Alexandrowitsch Belkowski ( Russian Станислав Александрович Белковский , scientific transliteration Stanislav Aleksandrovič Belkowskij ; born February 7, 1971 in Moscow ) is a Russian political scientist of Polish-Jewish origin.

Belkowski was trained as a system technician. In the 1990s he worked in Moscow as a programmer and as a consultant and speechwriter for various liberal politicians, including Irina Chakamada . In 1999 he founded the agency for political news, where he was editor-in-chief until 2004.

Belkowski is the founder of the non-commercial Institute for National Strategy ( Институт национальной стратегии , Institut Nazionalnoj Strategii ), which has existed since 2002, and lives in Moscow and the surrounding area. Belkowski deals extensively with the politics of Vladimir Putin and is considered a Kremlin critic.

Belkovsky became famous in 2003 when he published a study that the oligarchs threatened a coup in Russia . His report was seen as one of the triggers of the Mikhail Khodorkovsky affair .

On November 12, 2007, in an interview with the daily newspaper Die Welt , he claimed that Putin's fortune amounted to around 40 billion US dollars, mostly in the form of stocks. According to Belkowski, this consists of 37 percent of the shares in Surgutneftegas (estimated market value at the end of 2007: 20 billion US dollars), 4.5 percent of the shares in Gazprom and 50 percent of the oil trading company Gunvor via his representative Gennady Timchenko .
