Palkin first appeared internationally in January 2012 at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . There he finished fifth in the mass start and over 2 × 500 m. At the Junior World Championships in Bjugn in 2014 , he achieved 15th place over 1000 m and over 2 × 500 m. The following year he won the bronze medal over 1000 m at the Junior World Championships in Warsaw . He also took ninth place in the team pursuit, sixth place in the team sprint and fifth place over 500 m. At the Junior World Championships 2016 in Changchun , he ran in 20th place over 1000 m, eighth place over 500 m and fifth place in the team sprint. In November 2016 he started the World Cup in Harbin for the first time and finished 16th in the B group over 1000 m. At the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Obihiro he finished 13th over 1500 m, 12th place over 500 m and eighth place over 1000 m. In October 2017 he became Kazakh champion over 1000 m in Astana . He achieved his best individual placement in the World Cup so far in January 2018 in Erfurt with 16th place over 1000 m. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he achieved 29th place over 1000 m and 24th place over 500 m.
