Stanislaw Todorow Stanilow ( Bulgarian Станислав Тодоров Станилов ; born September 9, 1943 in Gabrovo ) is a Bulgarian archaeologist and politician of the Ataka party . For which he is a member of the 40th (2005–2009), 41st (2009–2013) and 42nd Bulgarian parliamentary term (2013–). Stanislaw Stanilow is widowed. He is a professor of archeology.

Life

Stanilow graduated from the University of Veliko Tarnovo with a degree in history . His research, which he has published in Bulgarian and other European journals, is mainly concerned with the First Bulgarian Empire . In addition to Bulgarian, he also speaks German and Russian.

Political activity

Stanilov had the eighth place on the list of the Ataka party for the European elections in Bulgaria in 2009 . However, his party was only able to win two seats. Since November 2007 he has been deputy chairman of the Ataka group in the Bulgarian parliament.

He is also chairman of the Bulgaria- Armenia friendship group in the Bulgarian parliament. Stanilov calls on the Bulgarian institutions to recognize the genocide of the Armenians . According to Stanilov, the Bulgarian people survived a similar genocide in all the uprisings during the five-century Turkish yoke . He describes the Armenians as the most loyal diaspora to Bulgarian national interests and the Bulgarian people . He also regards the expulsion and slaughter of the Bulgarians in Eastern Thrace at the beginning of the 20th century as genocide.

Stanilov took part in the drafting of a resolution condemning the genocide of the Bulgarians in the Ottoman Empire . The resolution provided for the declaration of May 17th as the day of remembrance for the victims of the genocide of the Bulgarians in the Ottoman Empire, the establishment of a memorial and the criminalization of the rejection of historical crimes. The resolution was rejected on March 9, 2011 by 39 votes for, 26 against and 50 abstentions.

Stanilov evaluates the ideas of the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu in one of his books, where the restoration of the Ottoman Empire with the inclusion of all neighboring peoples and a revenge for the defeat at Vienna , according to Stanilow, is envisaged as a " mortal danger for all of Southeast Europe " ( Bulgarian смъртна опасност за цяла Югоизточна Европа ). Stanilov describes Davutoglu as the ideologue of the DPS and the DPS party itself as " neo-Ossmanist " ( Bulgarian неоосманистката партия ДПС ).

In early October 2012, Stanislaw Stanilows book The Neoosmanismus and the Bulgarians ( Bulgarian Новият османизъм и българите ) issued. According to the author, the book is designed as a response to Davutoglu's Die Strategischeiefe , where the idea of ​​a Turkish return to Europe is justified and the Turkish yoke is played down as mere Turkish rule . The Bulgarian press and Bulgarian academia deliberately did not treat neo-Omanism.
