Starter kit
The starter kit or the starter package , with its own name or without a printed name , depending on the euro country , is a coin pouch that was available in banks in the twelve euro countries before the euro was introduced on January 1, 2002 . It had the benefit of familiarizing the people of Europe with the euro and of making it easier to introduce - especially coins. The countries that introduced the euro after 2002 also issued starter kits. The most recent compilation was published on December 1, 2014 in Lithuania , which became a member of the euro countries on January 1, 2015.
In Germany one contained Starter 20 coins in the value of 10.23 euros and had the equivalent of 20.01 DM . The arithmetical difference of one penny was borne by the public purse . In Germany, the starter kits were available from December 17, 2001 in all savings banks and banks .
Launched by the coin Austria issued Austrian starter pack containing 33 coins with a total value of 14.54 euros or 200.07 Schilling . The citizens paid 200 schillings for such a starter package, so the state gave seven groschen for a copy. In addition, there were official starter packages for the trade worth 145.50 euros or ATS 2002.12. (The price for this was ATS 2,000)
The number and composition of the coins also differed from country to country. In the Finnish starter kit, there were only all eight coins worth € 3.88, while the Italians had 53 coins worth € 12.91 (25,000 Italian lire ).
The Netherlands gave every citizen from the age of six a mini starter kit worth € 3.88 and also offered an additional, regular starter kit worth 25 Dutch guilders .
Collector's item
Starter kits are still very popular with collectors , especially if they are intact; however, opened kits only have the real coin value. When selling starter kits, it is often possible to achieve a significantly higher price than the issue price.
The circulation of the German starter kit was 53.54 million copies. Because of this high number, in contrast to the starter kits from other countries, the German starter kit did not show any significant increases in value . Other countries such as B. Monaco , Ireland and Finland increased in value in some cases considerably because of their small print runs (up to less than a million copies). The collector's value of Finnish starter kits is now over 150 euros, which, however, due to this high profit margin, also led to counterfeit starter kits being brought into circulation.
