Station holder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Station keepers are people who continue to operate closed Swiss railway stations on their own on a private basis.

concept

The station owners operate a train station for their own account. They receive a commission from SBB for ticket sales . To do this, they have to rent a Prisma 2 ticket printer from SBB.

Since ticket sales are often not enough to survive, ticket sales are usually combined with other activities such as travel agencies, kiosks, cafeterias, book printing, bicycle workshops, support lessons for schoolchildren, etc.

Station owners try to offer customer-friendly and competent service at their stations. The aim of the station operator is that the services can continue to be offered at as many locations as possible where the railway station is no longer operated for economic reasons.

In addition, the station keepers ensure order at the train station and inform travelers in the event of disruptions. Most of the station operators are no longer allowed to perform driving duties.

organization

The station holders were organized in an association until 2005. In 2005 they merged with ProBahn Switzerland . On the one hand, for financial and administrative reasons, on the other hand, interests can be better represented.

Locations
