Statzenturm

The Statzenturm is a former residential and defense tower in Neuershausen (Eichstetter Straße 21), a current part of the municipality of March in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district in Baden-Württemberg .

In the 12th and 13th centuries, a knight dynasty named after the place is documented in Neuershausen, and around 1344 a castle with a tower house (Statzenturm) belonging to the Statz knights is mentioned. At the beginning of the 17th century, the manor with the Statzenturm, now Rinkenhof, is in the hands of Rinck von Baldenstein (purchased by Basel Bishop Wilhelm Rinck von Baldenstein and his brothers).

After the castle was destroyed by the Swedes in the Thirty Years' War in 1632 , the Meierhaus was built. Remnants of the former square residential and defense tower with stepped gable and gate construction as well as farm buildings are still preserved in the Rinkenhof.
