Steel Buddies is a documentary soap produced by the German television channel DMAX . It is about Michael Manousakis and his company Morlock Motors, which he runs with his employees in Peterslahr .

Morlock Motors

Michael Manousakis is a registered businessman and founder and operator of Morlock Motors Michael Manousakis e. K. in Peterslahr. His business is to buy up anything that the United States Army has sorted out in Europe. For this he has an exclusive contract, according to which he has to buy all discarded stocks of the US Army, such as vehicles, machines, clothing, military equipment, building equipment, electronics and much more. The items are sorted, cataloged and then either resold to dealers and private individuals by Michael's team or stored on the company premises - mostly in the open air and in containers. In addition to this business, Morlock Motors specializes in the repair and restoration of civil and military vehicles from the USA and operates a workshop on the premises. Michael also buys unusual vehicles and goods independently of the US Army in order to trade with them.

The Steel Buddies

  • Michael Manousakis is the managing director of Morlock Motors. He emphasizes again and again that he was “only a comprehensive student” and that he himself had no completed vocational training. After finishing school, Michael earned his living by repairing broken down cars as a freelance breakdown worker, and later he also worked as a salvage diver in Nigeria . In 1994 he finally set up his own company, specializing in American vehicles and trading in discarded military goods. His tasks in the company are direct contact with customers and acceptance of deliveries. Although he mostly only monitors the work of his employees, he also lends a hand in tricky situations himself. In addition to his work as managing director, he pursues numerous hobbies, including sport shooting , mountain climbing and diving . He also has a private pilot's license and several aircraft, including an Antonov An-2 , with which he has already successfully crossed the Atlantic .
  • Alexander "Alex" Janowsky is the office manager and Michael's deputy. His duties are inventory of deliveries, accounting and article sales.
  • Rosi Kötting-Drescher is the chief mechanic at Morlock Motors. She and Michael's employees take care of the repairs and restoration of the vehicles.
  • Michael "Klotzki" Kurkowski , as a master metal builder, is responsible for custom-made products and bodywork for repairs, restorations and modifications to vehicles.
  • Günter Zschimmer is the company's painter.
  • Ingo Meier is the workshop manager at Morlock Motors.
  • Stephan Becker 's staff for everything and skilled drivers. He takes on all tasks that arise and mostly the transfer of vehicles.
  • Julie Neal is responsible for the sales, purchase and export of goods to and from the United States

In addition to the people mentioned, the team also includes several mechanics who take on the work on the vehicles, unloading the deliveries and also sorting and processing the goods in the individual episodes.
