Stefan Alkier

Stefan Alkier (born April 5, 1961 in Recklinghausen ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

From 1980 to 1988 he studied Protestant theology in Münster , Bonn and Hamburg . From 1988 to 1989 he was employed as a research assistant at the Institute for Hermeneutics of the Protestant Theology Department at the University of Bonn . From 1991 to 1993 he was a research assistant for church history at the Research Center for Reformation History with Karl-Heinz zur Mühlen . After the Rigorosum in 1991 at the Ev. Theology at the University of Bonn, he was a research assistant for New Testament (C 1) in the Ev. Theology of the University of Hamburg . He received a research scholarship at Indiana University Bloomington in 1996 as part of the Hamburg academic exchange with American universities. Since 1998 he has been the editor of the New Testament magazine (ZNT). From 1999 to 2001 he was vicar of the EKvW . In 2000 he was appointed private lecturer for the New Testament at the University of Hamburg. From 2000 to 2001 he was a professor for biblical studies with a focus on the New Testament at the University of Kassel . Since 2001 he has been professor of the New Testament and the history of the old church in the Protestant Theology department of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

His research focuses and interests are theology of the New Testament, Paul, Gospel of Mark, St John's Apocalypse, miracles and resurrection, ancient economic history, biblical intertextuality, the Bible in contemporary culture, semiotics, hermeneutics, methodology and research history.
