Stefan Diez (* 1971 in Freising ) is a German industrial designer .

Life

After an architecture course and a carpenter apprenticeship, Stefan Diez spent a year in India . There he designed and built furniture . After that year he studied industrial design at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1996 to 2002 . In 1998 he was assistant to Richard Sapper , then worked for the designer Konstantin Grcic in Munich until 2002 . In 2003 he started his own business and opened his own design studio in Munich , where he developed furniture, dinnerware , bags and exhibition designs, among other things . Under the exhibition title Full House: Design by Stefan Diez , the Museum of Applied Art Cologne 2017 presents an insight into his work. From 2007 to 2014 he was a professor at the State University of Design in Karlsruhe. Since 2018 he has been professor of industrial design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
