Stefan Gehrold

Stefan Gehrold (born November 14, 1965 in Freiburg ) is a German lawyer , politician (CDU) and was a member of the European Union from 2018 to 2019 .

Life

Gehrold studied law at the University of Passau (1986–1989), the Universidade Católica de Porto (1989–1990) and the University of Freiburg (1990–1992). He received his doctorate from the University of Münster . He completed his legal clerkship at the OLG Oldenburg . He then trained to become a specialist lawyer for labor law.

From 1997 to 2000 he was deputy chairman of the Landescaritasverband Oldenburg and chairman of the CDU city association of Lohne. From 1998 to 2001 he was a member of the state party committee of the CDU Lower Saxony. Since 2011 he has been a member of the advisory board of the German Society for Defense Technology , the CDU European Committee, the Europe Working Group of the German Bishops' Conference and the international commission of MIT. He has been on the Executive Committee of the European People's Party since 2012 .

On September 20, 2018, Gehrold replaced Burkhard Balz in the EU Parliament. He lives in Saterland and heads the European office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung . He ran for the 2019 European elections , but received no mandate.
