Stefan Krawielicki

Stefan Krawielicki (born May 13, 1956 in Luxembourg ) is a German diplomat who was Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to UNESCO in Paris from 2016 to 2019 and has been Ambassador to New Zealand since August 2019 . In addition to New Zealand , his administrative district also includes the Cook Islands , Fiji , Kiribati , Niue , Samoa , Tonga and Tuvalu .

Life

Krawielicki attended the European School in Luxembourg between 1962 and 1974 and passed the European Abitur there in 1974 . In 1974 he began studying law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , which he completed with the first state examination in law. After completing his legal internship in Lübeck , he passed the second state examination in 1985 and then settled as a lawyer in Paris between 1985 and 1986 . In 1987 he began his preparatory service for the higher foreign service and, after completing his training as an attaché in 1988, was initially employed as a consultant for foreigners and visa law in the legal department of the Foreign Office in Bonn . He then worked as a legal and consular officer and protocol officer at the embassy in Portugal between 1990 and 1993 and then from 1993 to 1996 as a consultant in the human resources department of the Foreign Office in Bonn.

Afterwards, Krawielicki acted as head of the economic department at the embassy in Saudi Arabia between 1996 and 2000 and from 2000 and 2001 as a consultant for Eastern Europe, Russia and the CIS in the economic department of the Foreign Office in Berlin . From 2001 to 2005 he was deputy head of the German-French cultural relations department in the culture and education department of the Foreign Office in Berlin and from 2005 to 2008 as head of the legal and consular department at the embassy in France . After his return, he was Head of Section 605 (German Schools Abroad) in the Cultural Department of the Foreign Office in Berlin between 2008 and 2011 and then Permanent Representative of the Ambassador in Austria from 2011 to 2015 , before becoming Permanent Representative of the Head of Permanent between 2015 and 2016 Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany at UNESCO in Paris.

In July 2016, Krawielecki succeeded Michael Worbs as Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to UNESCO in Paris. In August 2019 he became the German ambassador to New Zealand with his official seat in Wellington .

Stefan Krawielicki is married and has two children.
