Stefan Muhle (born January 21, 1974 in Georgsmarienhütte ) is a German lawyer , political official and politician ( CDU ). Since January 15, 2018, he has been State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor, Transport and Digitization .

Life

After graduating from high school in Melle (1993), he was a temporary soldier in the Air Force until 1995 . Muhle then started studying law at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn and passed the first state examination in law in 2000 . The legal clerkship from 2001 to 2003 at the Berlin Higher Regional Court was followed by the second state examination in 2003 .

After working as a lawyer at Wollmann & Partner, Berlin , he was a research associate and press spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the Lower Saxony state parliament from 2004 to 2008 . He then switched to the state service and was press spokesman for Lower Saxony's minister of education, Elisabeth Heister-Neumann , from 2008 to 2009 . Until 2011 he was Head of the Political Planning, Strategic Management and Policy Issues Division in the Lower Saxony State Chancellery .

In 2011 he left the state service and became first district councilor of the Osnabrück district . On January 15, 2018, he was appointed State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor, Transport and Digitization by Minister Bernd Althusmann .

Muhle is responsible for developing a digitalization master plan and setting up a digitization coordination office in the Ministry of Economic Affairs. By 2022, the nationwide provision of high-speed internet in Lower Saxony, the acceleration of digitization processes in society and the digital professionalization of the state administration are to be advanced with one billion euros from state funds.
