Stefan Porwol

Stefan Porwol (born October 27, 1955 in Uelzen ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ). From 2010 to 2013 he was State Secretary for Culture in Lower Saxony .

Life

His father, chief magistrate Erwin Porwol, was director of the Lüchow district court until its dissolution in 1974 . Erwin Porwol came from Upper Silesia and was a local judge in Opole before the Second World War .

Stefan Porwol graduated from high school in Lüchow in 1974 . From 1974 to 1976 he did his military service in Lüneburg (last rank is lieutenant in the reserve ). Porwol then studied law at the University of Hamburg . After completing his legal traineeship in the higher regional court district of Celle , from 1983 onwards he was responsible for school law and teacher personnel as a department head at the Lüneburg district government . From 1983 to 1985 Porwol worked as a personal advisor to the district president. In 1984 he completed his legal doctorate on "The Soldier's Political Freedom of Expression" and worked for the Lüneburg district .

On June 23, 1987, he was elected district director in the Lüneburg district for a period of 12 years; in 1998 he was re-elected as the district's first district councilor . Outside of the departmental organization, he intensively accompanied the topics of school development planning, the establishment of new schools, securing school locations and school building programs. From 1990 to 1998 Porwol headed a cross-district project “Prevention in day care centers” in the Harburg and Lüneburg districts.

In addition, Porwol was head of the disaster control team for the flood disasters on the Elbe in 2002 and 2006 in the Lüneburg area. In 2006, he narrowly failed in the elections to district administrator of the district of Lueneburg in a runoff election against Manfred Nahrstedt . Porwol has been working as an independent lawyer in Lüneburg since 2007 and continues to work as chairman of the Johann and Erika Loewe Foundation for the workshop for the mentally disabled.

From July 27, 2010 to February 19, 2013 he was State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education .

Stefan Porwol is married and has two children.
