Stefan Stannarius (born October 20, 1961 in Graefenthal ) is a former German ski jumper .

Career

On March 20, 1982 Stannarius jumped in Štrbské Pleso for the first time in the ski jumping World Cup and already achieved two World Cup points in his first competition with 14th place. Since this was his only jumping in the 1981/82 season , he finished the season on the basis of his two points in 63rd place in the overall standings.

For the 1982/83 season he was firmly in the World Cup squad. When jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he was able to jump into the points for the first time in the season with an 11th place after a 42nd in Oberstdorf . In Innsbruck and Bischofshofen , however, he remained unsuccessful and pointless. At the first competition after the Four Hills Tournament 1982/83 on January 8, 1983 in Harrachov , he achieved fourth place for the first time a result among the top ten. Two weeks later he jumped on the podium for the first time and also for the last time with a 3rd place in Engelberg . Third place was also the highest individual placement in his career in the World Cup.

At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , Stannarius narrowly missed the medal ranks with fourth place on the normal hill. He was ninth on the large hill.

In his first World Cup after the Olympics he reached the Finnish Lahti 4th Place. It was his last World Cup. A year later he competed again at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol and finished jumping on the normal hill in 12th place. After the World Championships, he ended his active ski jumping career at the age of only 23.
