Stefan Varga

Stefan Varga (* 1966 in Flörsheim am Main ) is a German guitarist and composer .

Live and act

Stefan Varga started playing the guitar at the age of 13. After graduating from high school, he studied classical guitar with Thomas Flößner at the Wiesbaden Music Academy and then jazz guitar with Werner Neumann and Norbert Scholly at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, graduating as a qualified music teacher specializing in jazz. Workshops with Mike Stern , Larry Carlton , Hubert Käppel , and Klaus König complemented his training. Classical / musical singing lessons with Janice Harper and jazz / pop with Anne Hartkamp . In his compositions, Stefan Varga spans a wide arc between Bach and jazz, between rock and knitting factory . He mainly works in the Stefan Varga Trio (with Jens Biehl, drums and Wolfgang Ritter, double bass) and is also with the Hungarian jazz guitarist Tibor Eichinger, the Duo NAOMI and the jazz trio Swing Guitars (with Ruud van Duijse, guitar and Jörg Mühlhaus, double bass) on road.

Varga has many years of experience as a lecturer for guitar and ensembles as well as a live and studio musician. He wrote various film scores for ARTE / ZDF as well as numerous jazz compositions.
