Stefan Zimkeit
Stefan Hans Walter Zimkeit (born May 9, 1964 in Oberhausen ) is a German politician . He is budgetary and financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament .
Life
Stefan Zimkeit graduated from the comprehensive school in Osterfeld in 1983 . He then studied social and political science at the University of Duisburg and did his community service in child and youth work on a construction playground . He completed his studies in 1994 as a graduate social scientist, but was initially unemployed. From 1995 to 2010 he worked as a consultant for the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament members Manfred Dammeyer and Wolfgang Große Brömer .
Political career
In 1983 Zimkeit joined the SPD and from 1984 to 1987 was a member of the board of the Oberhausen Jusos , since 1985 as chairman. From 1991 to 1995 he was deputy chairman of the Juso district of Niederrhein. From 1992 to 1994 he was a member of the executive committee of the SPD sub-district of Oberhausen. From 1989 to 1994 and from 1999 to 2018 he was a member of the Osterfeld district council , from 1999 to 2013 and from 2014 as SPD parliamentary group chairman, and from 2013 to 2014 as district mayor. From 1994 to 2018 he was a member of the city council of Oberhausen, from 2001 to 2010 he was deputy chairman of the council. Zimkeit is involved in the "Antifascist Alliance Oberhausen", is a member of the Verdi union and is on the board of the Oberhausen AWO .
MP
Stefan Zimkeit ran for the state election in North Rhine-Westphalia 2010 in constituency 56 Oberhausen II - Wesel I , which includes Sterkrade and Dinslaken , where he was elected with 50.9% of the vote. In 2012 he was re-elected with 54.2% and in 2017 with 41.7% of the first votes. From 2010 he was initially deputy spokesman and from 2015 spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the budget and finance committee. He was also the parliamentary group spokesman in the WestLB investigative committee (2013-17).
