Wolfgang Wilhelm Josef Great Brömer (* 23. May 1952 in Oberhausen ) is a German politician of the SPD and former deputy in the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and professional career

Große Brömer was born on May 23, 1952 in Oberhausen. He grew up in a conservative Catholic family. His grandfather was the mayor of Oberhausen for the CDU. In 1971, Große Brömer graduated from Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium . Then he studied mathematics , history / politics and economics for teaching at elementary and secondary schools at the University of Duisburg until 1974 . He passed the first state examination in 1974 and the second state examination in 1976. During this time, Große Brömer did his legal clerkship in Dinslaken . From 1976 to 1981 he was a teacher at the secondary school in Sterkrade-Mitte , from 1981 to 1988 at the Heinrich-Böll-Gesamtschule in Oberhausen and from 1991 to 2000 Große Brömer was director of the comprehensive school Alt-Oberhausen , after having been there from 1988 to 1991 acted as deputy head.

Political career

In 1972, Große Brömer joined the SPD and was a member of the board of the Oberhausen Jusos from 1977 to 1984 and chairman of the Oberhausen Socialist Youth in Germany - Die Falken from 1978 to 1984 . Since 1975 he has been a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW), since 1987 on the board of the SPD local association in Osterfeld and since 1989 on the board of the SPD sub-district of Oberhausen and a member of the Oberhausen City Council. Große Brömer was deputy chairman of the SPD council group in Oberhausen from 1994 to 2001 and has been its chairman since December 16, 2001. In addition, since March 20, 2006, he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Oberhausen. In 2012 he handed this position over to Michael Groschek .

MP

On June 1, 2000 , Große Brömer was elected with 57.8% of the votes in constituency 72 - Oberhausen II and has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since then. On May 22, 2005 he was elected to the state parliament for the newly created constituency 55 - Oberhausen I. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 it was confirmed with 52.7%, in the 2012 election with 54.9% of the first votes. Grosse Brömer was among other things chairman of the school committee. He did not run for the 2017 election.

Große Brömer is married and has three daughters.
