Stefano Modena (born May 12, 1963 in Modena ) is a former Italian racing driver .
Career
Modena first attracted attention in 1986 with a fourth place in the Italian Formula 3 . In the following year he started in Formula 3000 and won the championship in this racing series for the Onyx team. At the end of the 1987 Formula 1 World Championship he made his debut at the Australian Grand Prix for Brabham -BMW.
In 1988 he competed twelve times for EuroBrun , in 1989 and 1990 he drove 31 races for Brabham, in 1991 he competed in 16 races for Tyrrell and in his last season in 1992 he competed in twelve races for Jordan . His best placings were third place at the 1989 Monaco Grand Prix and second place at the 1991 Canadian Grand Prix .
Of his 72 starts, 70 races were counted and he was disqualified twice. He achieved a total of 17 World Cup points.
From 1993 to 2000, Modena drove in the Italian and German touring car series for Alfa Romeo and last year for Opel , before ending his active motorsport career.
