Steffen Göpel

Steffen Göpel (born August 21, 1965 in Leipzig ) is a German real estate entrepreneur , honorary consul and former racing driver .

Career

Steffen Göpel was active as a racing driver in the GDR since the mid-1980s . In 1990 he was the last GDR champion in the most powerful car class E 1300 cm³ LK 1. Later he drove in the Opel Lotus Challenge Cup, the German Touring Car Cup, the DTM , the ADAC-Telekom-GT-Cup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany on almost all known race tracks such as the AVUS , on the Sachsenring , in Schleiz , Spa , Hockenheim , Oschersleben , in Zolder in Belgium and on the Nürburgring .

Steffen Göpel's racing successes include fifth place on the Berlin Avus in the Opel Lotus Championship (1990) and victory in the ADAC GT Cup in Assen (1996). At the Sachsenring he drove a race in front of around 150,000 spectators.

In 1991 Steffen Göpel founded GRK Holding ( Aktiengesellschaft since 2006 ) in Leipzig , a construction company specializing in the development and renovation of listed buildings. Göpel was CEO of the company with 75 employees until 2015. He has been a brand ambassador for GRK Holding since mid-2015 after selling his company at the beginning of 2015.

In 2015, Göpel granted a four million euro loan to the Leipzig internet company Unister Holding (operator of the internet portals ab-in-den-urlaub.de, fluege.de, auto.de, preisvergleich.de and börsennews.de), for which he received 5 percent of the Shares received as security. The shares in Unister were managed by the company Opus 3, which belongs to the GRK Group. Opus won against the will of the other shareholders the right to be invited to the shareholders' meetings.

Since January 2019 he has been Honorary Consul for the authoritarian- ruled Republic of Belarus for Saxony in Leipzig .

GRK Charity Masters

Göpel is the initiator and organizer of the “GRK Charity Masters” founded in 2008, a golf benefit event in Germany. In total, over 6.95 million euros were raised for charitable purposes up to 2011. Among other things, the charity supports the “A Heart for Children” campaign run by the Bild newspaper. In 2016, the charity, which collects donations at an annual golf tournament near Leipzig with the help of celebrities, gave one million euros to the campaign.
