The Steigerwald-Landschulheim Wiesentheid in Wiesentheid is a public (communal) high school with an integrated boarding and day care center and is therefore a specialty in the Bavarian school system. Along with 14 other public Bavarian boarding schools, it fulfills the statutory mandate of Art. 106 BayEUG .

history

In April 1945 the private Realprogymnasium Wiesentheid was founded. In 1947 the school began in the adjoining rooms of guest houses until it was moved to the former Reich Labor Camp in 1949. In 1955, the Zweckverband Bayerische Landschulheime decided to build a student residence, took over the Realprogymnasium in 1956 and expanded it into a nine-class upper secondary school. The name was changed to Steigerwald-Landschulheim .

school

The school is an all-day school in an open form and offers the following courses:

In addition, there are special primary school classes and a branch that leads secondary school graduates to the Abitur.

In addition to the regular subject lessons, there is a special afternoon program (elective lessons) with a variety of courses and work groups.

Boarding school

The boarding school can accommodate up to 60 girls and 120 boys. The students live in four, three and two-bed rooms, depending on the grade. A supervised study period takes place in the afternoon. By employing specialist teachers from the school during their studies, pupils can specifically deal with what has not been understood.

Sports

The grammar school is a support school for basketball in cooperation with TSV 05 Wiesentheid . Thus, a planned promotion of young talent is possible, which goes far beyond the scope of physical education and its hourly budget.

Exchange programs

The Landschulheim has been maintaining a number of student exchange programs and school friendships with foreign schools for years. These are:

  • The Czech exchange with the Gymnázium FX Šaldy in Liberec (contact since 1992)
  • The Ukrainian exchange with the 'School No. 4' in Novograd-Volhynsk (contact since 1999)
  • The exchange of France with the Collège Guillaume de Normandie in Caen (first visit 2016)
  • The USA exchange with the high school in Arcata California
