Kai Uwe Tapken

Kai Uwe Tapken (born August 18, 1965 in Bamberg ) is a German military historian and museum director.

Live and act

Tapken was born in Bamberg and attended the Dientzenhofer grammar school there from 1976 to 1982 . After graduating from high school in 1985 at Steigerwald-Landschulheim Wiesentheid , he studied modern and ancient history as well as archeology of the Middle Ages and modern times in Bamberg, Bayreuth and Kiel. He wrote his Bamberg master's thesis (1993) on the subject of Bamberg as a garrison town in the 19th and early 20th centuries . In 1999 he was at Karl Möckl at the University of Bamberg with the dissertation The Reichswehr in Bavaria from 1919 to 1924 to the Dr. phil. PhD.

In 1994/95 he was a freelancer and from 1995 to 1997 he was a scientific volunteer at the Bamberg Historical Museum . Then he organized the Andechs-Meranier exhibition there. Until 2000 he was a research assistant at the museum. From 2000 to 2003 he was director of the Henneberg Museum in Münnerstadt. From 2003 to 2008, he succeeded Joachim Niemeyer as director and managing director of the Defense History Museum (WGM) Rastatt GmbH.

Since 2008 he has been director of the Bad Neustadt and Rhön-Saale adult education center . He is also head of the city's cultural work.
