Alexander Jordan

Alexander Jordan (* 1975 in Füssen ) is a German historian . He is the director of the Military History Museum in Rastatt .

Life

Jordan comes from the Swabian town of Füssen. From 1999 to 2007 he studied history at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (MA 2004); In 2006 he was awarded the Werner Hahlweg Prize for Military History and Defense Sciences. In 2001/02 he studied history, social sciences and economics at the University of Wales , Swansea, on a European Union scholarship . (BSc Econ 2002).

In 2007 he was with Karl Möckl at the Faculty of History and Geosciences at the University of Bamberg with the dissertation War for the Alps 1914-1918. The First World War in the Alps and the Bavarian Border Guard in Tyrol to Dr. phil. ( summa cum laude ) doctorate. In 2007/08 he was a lecturer; he built up an archive on the history of the Alpine War in northern Italy.

Since 2008, Jordan has succeeded Kai Uwe Tapken as director and managing director of the Defense History Museum (WGM) Rastatt GmbH. There he is u. a. Curator of military history special exhibitions. He is also a board member (managing director) of the Association of Friends of the Defense History Museum Schloß Rastatt eV

He is also a member of the Commission Internationale d'Histoire Militaire , the Working Group on Military History and the International Council of Museums and, since 2015, of the German Museum Association .
