Steigmühle is an officially named district of the independent city of Memmingen in the administrative district of Swabia . It is located one and a half kilometers west of Steinheim on the 2013 state road .

history

Until it was incorporated into Memmingen in 1976, Steigmühle was part of the former municipality of Steinheim .

In the first recording from 1808 to 1864 there is an entry “Steigmühl”, which is located further west directly on the Iller , at the location of today's house number 19 on Egelseerer Straße. In 1832, the repertory of the topographical atlas sheet Illertissen mentions a house and a mill on the Iller with a single grinder.

Population development

In the documents of the 1875 census, the place is referred to as "Staigmühle". In the censuses from 1885 onwards, Steigmühle and Oelmühle (200 meters to the north) were recorded together and the numbers were recorded under Steigmühle. From the 1970 census, the location was no longer recorded separately; the data are recorded under Egelsee .
