particularities |
The Steinbergsee is a small lake in the Lattengebirge in the Berchtesgadener Land district . It is located in the Bischofswiesen forest , a former community-free area that has been a district of the Bischofswiesen community since January 1, 2010 . Its size fluctuates somewhat depending on the amount of rain. It has no visible inflow and only a short drain that seeps into the ground.
It is located roughly between the peaks of the Karkopf (in the northwest), the Törlkopf (in the southwest) and the Steinerne Agnes rock form (in the northeast). The peaks are at a distance of 600 to 800 meters from the lake (as the crow flies ).
The lake is a habitat for many small animals and chamois can also be found there.
The abandoned Steinbergalm was about 370 meters north of the Steinbergsee. Of the also abandoned Rotofenalm, 840 meters as the crow flies or 1190 meters to the northeast (near the Steinerne Agnes), there is only one building used as a service hut today. The Karberg-Alm, 820 meters west (west of the ridge from Karkopf to Törlkopf) has also been abandoned.
