Stone box from Skrelunda

The Skrelunda Stone Box is located south of Skara between the lakes Vänern and Vättern in the parish of Härlunda in the province of Västra Götalands län in Sweden . The complex was built between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC as a large stone grave of the funnel cup culture (TBK).

The north-east-south-west oriented megalithic stone box is about 8.0 m long, 1.6 m wide and has three chambers. The northern and middle chambers are about 3.0 m long, the southern about 2.0 m. It consists of plates, the largest of which are about 2.2 m long, at least 0.7 m high and 0.10-0.12 m thick. The passage between the chambers takes place through a so-called soul hole ( Swedish Gavelhål ). In the north it consists of a recess about 40 cm in diameter, half of which was picked into two adjacent plates. The stone box has a depth of 0.7 m. The cap stones are missing except for a stone about 2.0 m long, 0.5 m wide and 0.2 m thick, which is located immediately south of the northern end of the central chamber. From the southern Seelenloch there is a 0.5 meter high, 0.25 meter wide and 0.11 meter thick remnant slab on the western side. West of the box used to be a couple of blocks including a 1.0 x 0.5 meter and 0.10 meter thick stone that probably belonged to the box.

1902 next bone, eight were daggers and arrowhead of flint found.

The Brakelund burial ground is nearby .
