History and legend

Incisions on the headboard

The relic is from 1672 and was designated as an architectural monument by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments (D-5-74-123-49). It is said of him that two butcher boys got into an argument here and one killed the other. Hence the name, the "Metzgerla" (Franconian for butcher). However, this legend also bears a strong resemblance to the documented news of the nearby “Little Red Fairy” at the Cold Fountain . The slain from the Cold Fountain was called Christof Stoll, hence the initials J or C and S on the headboard. The year is 1672, but it would have to have been changed afterwards and earlier it was 1527.
