Stella AG

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stella AG (also called Stella Entertainment) was a German stock corporation, for the operation of musical theaters, operation and marketing of musical productions and other entertainment offers as well as related trips. From 1988 the company was a quasi monopoly in the field of en-suite musical productions in Germany until it went bankrupt in 2002. Most of the venues were taken over by Joop van den Ende with his Stage Holding Group, which later became Stage Entertainment .

history

Stella AG was founded in Hamburg in 1988 by Rolf Deyhle and Friedrich Kurz . Shortly, the musical had already successfully in Hamburg from 1986 Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber produced and saw the opportunity to open new musical venues. For this purpose, Deyhle and Kurz founded the Stella-Theater-Produktions-GmbH.

Kurz sold his shares in the company to Deyhle in 1991 after a lawsuit between the two of them in a London court.

From 1997 Stella AG got into financial difficulties and could no longer service the loans from the construction of the theaters. In July 1997, Deyhle and the financing banks therefore agreed to separate Stella AG from the Rolf Deyhle group and transfer it to a trust company. After the company still failed to stabilize and Joop van der Ende was very successful in producing The Lion King and Elisabeth in Essen and was in strong price competition with Stella AG, Stella AG had to file for bankruptcy in 2002.

The last general meeting took place on December 20, 2011, at which an insolvency plan and the continuation of the company were decided.

financing

The financing concept developed by Rolf Deyhle for all construction activities consisted of the fact that Stella AG had the building erected with a loan and then sold it to a thirty-year three-country fund under the umbrella of the Kapital-Consult company, from which Stella AG then leased the theater back. Allgemeine Wirtschaftsdienst (AWD) sold the fund shares to small investors. In addition to the musical theaters, the funds also bought real estate in the USA and stock portfolios in Switzerland.
