The Steller See is a quarry pond in the Lower Saxony municipality of Stuhr in the district of Diepholz . The lake is located southeast of Delmenhorst near the Stuhr motorway triangle .
description
The lake was created in the early 1960s as part of the construction of the Federal Motorway 1 . Sand was mined there until 1966.
After the sand extraction had ended, a campsite was set up around the lake, which was already used as a bathing lake during mining activities in the summer months . The lake, which is located in an agricultural area, is managed by the operator of the campsite. Sanitary facilities, a restaurant and a snack are available. There is a large beach area on the north bank. There are sunbathing areas around the lake. A bathing island is anchored in the lake.
In the summer months, swimming is monitored by the German Life Saving Society . Water sports are possible (except with motorized watercraft).
