The Stemme S12 is a variant of the S10. It is a two-seat motorized glider made by the German manufacturer Stemme AG . The first flight took place in the spring of 2015 at Strausberg airfield , the EASA CS-22 certification in March 2016 and the FAA on August 17, 2017.
construction
The two-seater cantilevered wing monoplane in FRP construction with conventional T-tail has a 25 meters or 21.7 m exciting five-wing with wing flaps , Schempp-Hirth airbrakes on the top and winglets . The outer wings can be folded onto the fuselage for hangar .
The modified Rotax 914 motor, located in the fuselage behind the cockpit, drives a 2-bladed folding propeller (propeller circle diameter: 1.63 m) via a CFRP remote shaft, which can be retracted under the longitudinally adjustable aerodynamic front fairing when not in use.
Compared to the S10 , the outer wing has been re- profiled , enlarged and provided with 60 l fuel tanks each. There are clip-on wings with a span of 25 m and 21.7 m, both with winglets. The rudder unit has been enlarged and holds a 15 liter water ballast tank. The electrically retractable landing gear has been reinforced for the increased maximum take-off weight and the track width has been increased. There is also an electric elevator trim and an externally accessible luggage compartment for 20 kg on the back of the fuselage. In addition, a Dynon autopilot was implemented, which makes the S12 the first approved glider with an autopilot .
The S12-G equipment variant with a Garmin G3X glass cockpit with two 7-inch screens, integrated autopilot and LX9000 has been available since 2019.
