The Stemme AG is an internationally operating, medium-sized air carriers in Strausberg that the TMG S10 (phasing out of production in early 2016), the development of S12 , the S6 (phasing out of production in early 2016) as well as the utility aircraft ASP S15-1 manufactures. Around 310 aircraft (as of 2019) have been built so far.

Paul Masschelein (former CEO) was replaced by Bart Slager as the new board member at the end of August 2019.

history

The Stemme company was founded in 1984 by Reiner Stemme in Berlin-Wedding with the purpose of building motor gliders . The request to build airplanes in what was then West Berlin was extremely unusual, as German citizens were forbidden to manufacture or fly motor-powered airplanes in Berlin until the reunification in 1990 due to the Four Power Agreement .

Stemme therefore officially built gliders in the premises of the former AEG factory in Voltastrasse in Berlin .

The fuselage, wings and tail unit were built in Berlin and then transported by truck to Braunschweig Airport. The separately delivered engine was installed in a hall at the airport .

In 1993 the company moved to Strausberg near the Strausberg airfield . In 2013, the subsidiary ECARYS GmbH was founded to market the ES15 commercial aircraft (model designation ASP S15-1).
