Stephan Articus

Stephan Articus (born August 23, 1952 in Husum ) is a German sociologist . He is a member of the WDR - Broadcasting Council and was chief executive of the German Association of Cities .

Career

Articus attended the Protestant theological seminar in Urach and studied sociology, ethnology and empirical cultural studies in Tübingen and graduated in 1989 with a doctorate. From 1992 he was an alderman of the German Association of Cities for Youth and Social Affairs, from 1997 its finance department. From 1999 to 2016 he was a managing member of the presidency of the German Association of Cities and a managing board member of the Association of Cities in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Since 2009 he has been a member of the WDR Broadcasting Council. He is a member of the CDU and was a member of the German Islam Conference from 2006 .
