Stephan Bundi

Stephan Bundi (* 1950 in Trun, GR ) is a Swiss poster and graphic designer .

life and career

Stephan Bundi studied from 1966 to 1971 at the Bern School of Applied Arts (today Bern University of the Arts ) and then worked as a graphic designer in a Bern advertising agency. In 1973 he began his studies at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , where he studied a. a. under Kurt Weidemann . After completing his studies, he set up his own office in Bern in 1975 . From 1980 he taught at the schools for design in Bern and Biel . In 1999 he accepted a teaching position at the Bern University of Design . Since 2008 he has been visiting professor at the Design College, Arts Institute Nanjing , China. He was admitted to the renowned Alliance Graphique Internationale in 2001 and has chaired the Swiss group since 2010. Stephan Bundi lives in Boll near Bern , where he moved his office in 2003.

Works

Bundi is represented with his posters at many poster biennials and triennials, won gold at the 1989 International Poster Triennial in Mons and was awarded the Icograda Excellence Award at the 20th International Poster Biennale in Warsaw in 2006 . In 2010 he won gold at the 11th International Poster Biennial of Mexico and gold at the Joseph Binder Award, Design Austria. In 2011 he again won gold at the 2nd Chicago International Poster Biennial. In 2013 he was awarded the Grand Prix (Golden Poster) at the 7th International Triennial of Stage Poster Sofia. He has been nominated several times for the Swiss Poster Award, receiving gold twice, silver five times and bronze twice. He has received the Red Dot Award Communication Design 21 times so far. He received further awards from the Art Directors Club New York, the Type Directors Club New York and the 100 best posters Germany Austria Switzerland competition. Graphis Poster Annual (New York) honored its posters with 8 platinum and 42 gold awards. His posters are represented in the most important international design collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Toyama (Japan), the German Poster Museum in Essen and the Bibliothèque nationale de France Muzeum Plakatu w Wilanowie, Warszawa, The Hermitage Museum, 21 Century Foundation, St. Petersburg.
