Eckart Paultheo von Zezschwitz (born May 2, 1972 in Wolfsburg ) is a German chemist and entrepreneur .

Life

Paul Theo von Zezschwitz comes from the Meissen family Zezschwitz . After graduating from the Johanneum School of Academics in Hamburg in 1991 , he studied chemistry at the University of Göttingen and the Technical University of Stockholm until 1996 . Both his diploma thesis and his dissertation were supervised by Armin de Meijere in Göttingen. From 1994 to 1999 von Zezschwitz worked on his dissertation entitled Palladium -catalyzed Cross-Couplings to 1,2-Dialkenylcycloalkenes: Starting Materials for the Synthesis of Diverse Cyclic Carbon Scaffolds , with which he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. received his doctorate . He was awarded the Otto Wallach Prize by the chemistry faculty for his work.

In 2000/01 he did postdoctoral research with Eric N. Jacobsen at Harvard University on transition metal- catalyzed and organocatalytic asymmetric conversions. From 2002 to 2008, as part of his habilitation at the University of Göttingen , von Zezschwitz dealt with natural product synthesis and enantioselective, catalytic processes . After the Venia legendi for Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry had received, he took in 2007 an appointment as W 2 - Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Marburg , where he researches and teaches since then. The working group he heads deals with the development of asymmetric synthesis methods, especially Rh-catalyzed additions to carbonyls and Ru-catalyzed hydrogenations, and is devoted to synthetic tasks in natural product research in interdisciplinary collaborations.

Paultheo von Zezschwitz is a member of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh) and the American Chemical Society (ACS) .

Von Zezschwitz lives in Marburg-Marbach , Hofheim and Kamenz .

Entrepreneur

Von Zezschwitz has been a pond owner since mid-1996 and runs a pond farm in Kamenz .
