Stephan Huck

Stephan Huck (* 1970 in Wolfenbüttel ) is a German officer and historian . Since 2002 he has been director of the German Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1989, Huck joined the Bundeswehr in Braunschweig . In 1993 he became a temporary officer. From 1993 to 1996 he studied history and social sciences at the Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg (MA). From 1999 until the end of his service life in 2002, the captain was a research assistant at the Military History Research Office (MGFA) of the Bundeswehr in Potsdam .

In 2009 he became a student of Bernhard R. Kroener at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Potsdam with his dissertation Soldiers against North America. Lebenswelten Braunschweiger Subsidientruppen in the American War of Independence for Dr. phil. PhD. Since then he has held a teaching position at the Institute for Material Culture of the Faculty of Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the University of Oldenburg . Since 2002 he has been managing director of the foundation and thus director of the German Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven. Since 2018 he has been a member of the board of the Museumsverband Niedersachsen Bremen eV.

Huck is the editor of several books on maritime history and co-editor of the small series on military and naval history at Verlag Dr. Dieter Winkler .
