Stephan Täuber (born October 8, 1966 in Erlangen) is a former German soccer player . His brothers Jürgen (* 1955) and Klaus (* 1958) also played in the Bundesliga . So you are the only "brother trio" in German professional football to date.

In 1995 he reached the DFB Cup final with VfL Wolfsburg .

Career

As a youth player, Stephan Täuber was active for SpVgg Erlangen and 1. FC Nürnberg . His two brothers also played for these clubs.

However, his professional career did not begin in Franconia, but in the Ruhr area. Täuber was in the Bundesliga squad of FC Schalke 04 from the 1985/86 season . He made his first appearance for Schalke on November 1, 1986, the 12th matchday of the 1986/87 season , when they lost 5-1 in Kaiserslautern . After seven more appearances for Schalke, he moved to the Berlin league for Hertha BSC in the 1987/88 season . There he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of the season . Only used irregularly in Berlin, Täuber switched to second division competitor SV Darmstadt 98 at the beginning of 1990 . In Darmstadt he developed into a permanent fixture, but the club rose from the second division in 1993, whereupon Täuber went to the then second division VfL Wolfsburg after three and a half years and 123 league games . With VfL he reached the cup final in 1995, which is the greatest success of his career. For Täuber personally, however, the time in Wolfsburg was mixed: in early 1994 he had to undergo an operation and was absent for several months.

In 1995 he hired the second division promoted SpVgg Unterhaching . After three years at the Munich suburb club, where he was part of the permanent staff, he returned to the top German league after more than ten years by moving to 1. FC Nürnberg in 1998 , where he had already played in his youth. It stayed with this one year, however, as the FCN was relegated in 1999. In 2000 he finally moved to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , where he ended his career after another season in the second division.
