Stephanie Sy
Stephanie Sy (born January 16, 1977 ) is an American television journalist and news presenter. In the past she worked for Al Jazeera America, among others . Sy was born and raised in Southern California . She currently resides in New York City with her husband and daughter .
Youth and education
Sy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania cum laude in 1999 in the two courses International Relations and Environmental Protection .
Career
ABC
From August 1999 to 2001 she was a reporter and substitute moderator for WBTW in Florence, South Carolina . She joined WTKR in September 2001 as a war correspondent. Her reporting from Iraq as an embedded journalist during the 2003 Iraq War resulted in her being hired by ABC News that same year . Sy reported for ABC NewsOne from London until 2006 , and from then on from New York. In 2007 she became a foreign correspondent for ABC in Beijing . Sy returned to New York in 2009 until she left ABC in 2012. During her time at ABC, she was sometimes an assistant presenter on World News Now .
Al Jazeera
From 2012 to 2013, Sy was the Senior Editor and Correspondent for Everyday Health . Sy joined Al Jazeera America in 2013. She took over the moderation of several formats, mostly Weekday Morning News . Occasionally she conducted interviews for Talk to Al Jazeera until Al Jazeera closed in 2016. During 2016, she began working as a freelance reporter for Yahoo News , mainly doing interviews for the website.
CNN, Yahoo News, CBSN, PBS Newshour Weekend
She has also been working as a freelance presenter for CNN and CNN International since around November 2017 . She represents Maggie Lake on CNN Money . Sy continues to freelance for Yahoo News, CBSN , CBS News online streaming service and PBS Newshour Weekend .
Personal
Stephanie Sy is married to David Jensen Ariosto since 17 June 2017 a producer at All Things Considered on NPR . Both were married before. Sy brought her daughter Isabel with her into the marriage.
Sy is a member of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs a non-profit - philanthropic organization in New York, dedicated to international cooperation.
