Stephen Greenleaf

Stephen Greenleaf (born July 17, 1942 in Washington, DC , United States ) is an American writer and former lawyer .

Life

Stephen Greenleaf grew up in a small town in the American Midwest . He received a Bachelor of Arts from Carlton College in Minnesota in 1964 and a Juris Doctor from the University of California at Berkeley in 1967 . From 1967 to 1969 he served in the US Army in Vietnam . In 1978 he studied creative writing at the prestigious Iowa Writer's Workshop . He was best known for his crime novels with the private detective John Marshall Tanner; they have been nominated for important literary prizes several times. According to Ellipsis Greenleaf's last novel with his protagonist Marsh Tanner . Greenleaf lives in Northern California with his wife Ann .
