Stephen Posen (born September 27, 1939 in St. Louis , Missouri , USA ; lives in New York City ) is an American contemporary painter and an important exponent of photorealism .

Life

Stephen Posen studied from 1958 to 1962 at Washington University in St. Louis and from 1962 to 1964 at Yale University in New Haven , Connecticut .

Posen had his first solo exhibition in 1965 at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and in 1969 at the OK Harris Gallery in New York.

Stephen Posen is known for his photo-realistic oil and acrylic paintings, on which he often depicts objects and collections of objects that are encased in a textile covering, which he depicts, including all the folds, in a spatially deceptively realistic manner.

Stephen Posen took part in Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972 in the pioneering Realism department with three pictures . In 1974 he was represented at the Tokyo Biennale in Japan . To this day he has exhibitions in major museums and galleries around the world.
