Stephen G. Ritter (born December 31, 1986 in Tenafly , New Jersey ) is a German - American ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with VER Selb in the ice hockey league since 2011 . Since his father Wolfgang is German, Stephen Ritter has German citizenship .
Career
Ritter began ice hockey in the United States . Between 2003 and 2005 he played for the Tabor Academy in Marion , Massachusetts . He then began studying economics at Providence College . In parallel, he played for the college's ice hockey team, the Friars , in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
In the 2006/07 season he went both in the United States Hockey League for the Des Moines Buccaneers , and in the North American Hockey League for the Marquette Rangers and Texas Tornado on the ice. He then resumed studying at the University of Wisconsin River Falls . In parallel, he played for the university's ice hockey team, the River Falls Falcons .
In the 2009/10 season he moved to the German Ice Hockey League for the Kassel Huskies . Ritter played his first game as a professional goalkeeper against the Krefeld Penguins , but lost it 2: 4.
In the following season he was initially under contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen , but was released in November 2010. On December 6, 2010 it was announced that the West Oberliga club EC Bad Nauheim has reached an oral agreement on a contract until the end of the season with Stephen Ritter, where he played until the end of the season. For the 2011/12 season he moved within the league to VER Selb .
