Stereom

Stereom (from the Greek sterigein = "to support") is a rarely used collective term for the strengthening tissue in land plants : collenchyme , sclerenchyme and libriform fibers .

In echinoderms , stereom refers to the calcite skeleton of mesodermal origin with intracellular origin.
