Sterling City is a town in Sterling County in the US state of Texas . It is also the county seat . According to the 2000 census , it had a population of 1081 in an area of ​​2.5 km 2 . The population density is 432 per km 2 .

The 1,081 residents of Sterling City, found in the 2000 census, lived in 393 households; including 297 families.
