The star high-rise , also known as the Mercedes high-rise in Kassel, is 55 meters tall and is the tallest high-rise in the north Hessian city of Kassel and is located in the Wesertor district near Holländischer Platz .
It is so called because of the promotional Mercedes star and does not have a star-shaped floor plan like other high-rise buildings, such as in Munich or Wels .
history
In 1968 the first groundbreaking took place. The building was completed in 1969 as the tallest skyscraper in Kassel in front of the 46 meter high Wintershall skyscraper built in 1957 . In August 2016, the high-rise was sold to GWH Wohnungsgesellschaft mbH Hessen for 14 million euros.
Mercedes Star
The three-pointed, silver-colored Mercedes star , which has been the logo of the automobile manufacturer Daimler AG since 1927, rotates on the roof of the skyscraper . Since the early 1970s, the logo has been lavishly and securely anchored through the top three floors. The owners still earn advertising income from Daimler AG today.
