Steve Buttle

Stephen "Steve" Buttle (born January 1, 1953 in Norwich , † June 5, 2012 ) was an English football player .

Athletic career

Buttle began playing football at the age of five when he played for teams in the Norwich district of Lakenham . At the age of eleven he was the team captain of the Norfolk national team. At the age of 15, he joined Ipswich Town , where he signed a professional contract in 1971. However, he was not used in the adult division in the competitive team, so he moved on to the then third division AFC Bournemouth in 1973 . With the club he rose in 1975 from the Third Division to the Fourth Division , where he ran up two seasons.

In 1977 Buttle moved to North America, where he joined the Seattle Sounders in the North American Soccer League . Until 1982 he ran for the club in the outdoor championship and the major indoor soccer league . He had already 1979/80 some appearances for Pittsburgh Spirit completed, from 1982 to 1985, he ran for the franchise from Pennsylvania again in the hall before he finished with a knee injury of his career. He then worked as an assistant coach in North American football.

Buttle later returned to Norwich and after divorcing his American wife, she stayed in the United States with their two children. He died of cancer at the age of 59 .
