Steve Gordon (screenwriter)

Steve Gordon (born 1938 in Chester , Pennsylvania , † November 27, 1982 in New York City ) was an American screenwriter and director.

Life

Gordon has appeared as a screenwriter for various television series since 1974. He had previously studied history and political science at Ohio State University , graduated there in 1961 and worked for various advertising agencies. As an author, he developed the series Laughing by Prescription . Except for two movies, he focused on television. Most of his work for Broadway remained unrealized.

In 1981 he directed Arthur - No Child of Sadness, his first and only feature film. He also wrote the script for this. He had previously directed several episodes of the Good Time Harry series in 1980 .

Gordon was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1982 for his screenplay for Arthur . The previous year, the Writers Guild of America had given him a WGA award.

Gordon died of a heart attack .
