Stian Grimseth

Stian Grimseth (born July 24, 1972 in Naustdal ) is a former Norwegian weightlifter .

He reached fourth place in a duel at the 1996 European Super Heavyweight Championships and won the gold medal in the snatch. In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta, where he was tenth. At the European Championships in 1997 he was first in the snatch again and won bronze in a duel. At the world championships in the same year he was seventh. In 1998 he was sixth at the European Championships . In 1999 he again reached seventh place at the World Championships .

During the 2000 Sydney Olympics , it was revealed that he had recently given a positive doping test and he was banned for two years. After it was proven that contaminated food supplements were the cause, the ban was reduced to 15 months. At the European Championships in 2002 he was ninth. In 2004 he took part in the Olympic Games in Athens , but had no valid attempt in pushing.
