Ihab El Sayed Abdelrahman (born May 1, 1989 in Ash-Sharqiyya Governorate ) is an Egyptian javelin thrower .

He first drew attention to himself at the Junior African Athletics Championships 2007 in Ouagadougou when he secured the bronze medal. In 2009 he won the Francophonie Games . In 2010, a win at the African Athletics Championships in Nairobi was followed by sixth place at the Continental Athletics Cup in Split .

At the 2011 World Athletics Championships in Daegu and the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he was eliminated from the qualification.

In 2013 he won silver at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin and was seventh at the World Championships in Moscow . On May 18, 2014, he won the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix with the African record of 89.21 m (which Julius Yego improved to 91.39 m on June 7, 2015). A silver medal at the African Championships in Marrakech was followed by a victory at the Continental Cup in Marrakech .

In 2015 he won silver at the World Championships in Beijing with 88.99 m behind Yego (92.72 m) and ahead of Tero Pitkämäki (87.64 m) and won the Africa Games in Brazzaville .

doping

Shortly before the 2016 Olympic Games , Abdelrahman was tested positive for testosterone during a doping control and has been disqualified by the World Athletics Federation ( IAAF ) since April 17, 2016 and banned for four years from July 21, 2016 to July 20, 2020.
