Archie Stinchcombe

Archibald "Archie" Stinchcombe (born November 17, 1912 in Cudworth , United Kingdom , † November 3, 1994 in Nottingham , United Kingdom) was a British ice hockey player and coach , who among other things was Olympic champion in 1936 with his country.

Career

Archie Stinchcombe played at club level in the English National League for a long time . From 1948 to 1955 he was the head coach of the Nottingham Panthers , but was also occasionally used as a player until 1952. With the team he won the championship title of the English National League in 1951 and 1954. In 1951 and 1954, he was also elected as a coach in the All-Star B team.

International

For Great Britain , Stinchcombe took part in the World Championships in 1937 and 1938 . He also represented his country at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he and his team won the gold medal. The tournament was also rated as a world and European championship, which is why he and his team also won these titles. Later he was also in the British squad at the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz . In 1951 he was inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame .
